Largest salsa class I have ever seen

I went to the Kennedy center the other night on Friday to see Son de Aqi and to hang out with Eileen Torres. I have been to her events there before and the class has always been well attended. I have gone to Major Salsa Congresses and have seen 300 to 400 people taking classes with Frankie Martinez or Eddie Torres but I have never seen over 1,00o people take a salsa class . Eileen did a tremendous job of working with such a large crowd and she had most of them trying to follow her as she taught the basic mambo steps. The crowd had a ball and it was fantastic to see such a large population of people who I had never seen before show some interest in Salsa. The classes were great, Son DE Aqui was great although some selections went past 10 minutes, which to me is too long , but I think I just need to get in band dancing shape and enjoy the live music and quit complaing about how the bands play their songs too long? If I get tired I can always stop , there I go thinking the salsa bands songs are all about me which they are not they are all about the about the band.

Sorry I missed the Kennedy Center-talked to a bunch of people who said it was great--I was in San Francisco and they have a great place in Emeryville called the Allegro Ballroom which operates 52 Sundays per year--huge classes of 100 plus from 6-8 and then from 8-12:30 you'll find 200 salseros dancing to great hard core salsa-hot,hot, hot!! went on Labor Day sunday and found a waiting line of 20 people!! Just wanted to add a comment to your blog Earl!!!
